Brrr...Winter is here!
Thanks for sending all of the warm winter gear this week! It was SO cold outside! The class and I were hoping we could ease into the winter season a few degrees at a time, but I guess Mother Nature had other plans. You know you are in Wisconsin when you are excited the high temperature is in the teens and there is no windchill. The temperature did spark a lot of impromptu leaning and a lot of fun plotting daily temperatures. Everyday was different and we learned the difference between actual temperature and feels like temperature. We also used our prayer time to pray for those people out East who were experiencing much more severe winter weather and to thank God for just cold temperatures for us. We are now prepared for whatever the seasons throw at us. Have a great week!

Thank you Veteran's
We were able to deliver our handmade cards to some very well deserving veterans at the Veteran's Day ceremony and to some of our own family members too. Thank you to all of the brave men and women who are serving and have served our great country. We appreciate the sacrifices you and your family make for us each day.

Veteran's Day
Don't forget that the students will be walking down to Traxler Park on Tuesday, November 11th. We will be attending the dedication of the two new memorials at the park and the Veteran's Day Ceremony. The students will also be distributing their hand made thank you cards to the veterans in attendance. Please have the students wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather, as it is supposed to be very cold on Tuesday.

Halloween
This Wednesday, the first graders are invited to dress in their Halloween costumes for school. We will parading with the Pre-K, Kindergarten, and second graders around 8:10. Parents are invited to watch the parade on the sidewalk in front of school. If it should rain on Wednesday morning, the parade will be in the gym. After the parade, the students will go on a search for the Great Pumpkin and parade through the other classrooms. We will also trick or treat over at the rectory with Fr. Steve and the church staff. Please send a change of casual clothes for after the parade festivities. We don't want anyone ruining their costume or getting hurt during gym. Remember no masks or weapons with Halloween costumes. Please contact me if you have any questions. We hope to see you all at the parade.

Parent Teacher Conferences
I am looking forward to seeing you all at conferences on October 29th and 30th. Conferences will be 4-8 on Wednesday and 8-12 on Thursday. Please let me know if you are unable to attend conferences on the scheduled days and we can reschedule something that will work for you. I can't wait to share all of the great things the girls have been working on so far this year.

Fire Prevention Month
October is Fire Prevention month! On Thursday, the students participated in our school wide fire drill, visited with the firefighters, and toured the firetruck. The firefighters reminded the students to have an adult check the batteries in their smoke detectors and to practice their home exit plans. Later this month, the first graders will have a personal visit from a firefighter and learn more information about fire prevention.
